Tottenham players and fellow Premier League stars have rallied around James Maddison after his latest emotional post following confirmation of a long-term injury.

Spurs have undergone a transformative summer, with several new arrivals, high-profile departures and Thomas Frank stepping in as head coach.

After a promising pre-season, their momentum was dented when Maddison suffered a serious injury during a friendly against Newcastle, leaving the pitch on a stretcher.

It has since been confirmed that Maddison has sustained an ACL injury and is expected to miss the majority of the upcoming campaign.

Maddison has shared an emotional update with supporters after undergoing surgery for the ACL injury that has ruled him out for much of the upcoming season.

Posting on Instagram, the Tottenham midfielder confirmed surgery had gone well but admitted it came during the “lowest low” of his career, adding that he was “heartbroken” the setback had arrived just as the Premier League campaign was about to begin and in a World Cup year.

Maddison played a key role for Tottenham last season despite reports of a fall-out with Ange Postecoglou.
