Everton defender James Tarkowski showed his approval after a fresh update emerged regarding the club’s pursuit of Tyler Dibling.

Everton have been one of the busiest sides in the summer transfer window, with David Moyes overseeing a significant rebuild that signals the start of a new era at the club.

A number of high-profile players departed earlier in the summer, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure among those to leave Everton upon the expiry of their contracts.

In response, the Toffees have invested heavily in reshaping their squad.

Everton have signied Jack Grealish on loan, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been added in midfield, while young talents such as Thierno Barry and Adam Aznou have also been recruited to inject energy and depth.

Now, it appears the club’s spending is far from over, with a major update surfacing on one of their key targets in this window.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Instagram that Everton have reached a “verbal agreement” with Southampton to sign Tyler Dibling.

He added that the winger is set to move to Goodison Park for a fee in the region of £42million, with a 20% sell-on clause included in the deal.

The update caught the attention of Everton vice-captain Tarkowski, as he was seen liking the post.

This comes after Football Insider reported that Southampton were prepared to lower their asking price for Dibling, having initially demanded £50million.

Everton had already seen two bids rejected and were close to walking away from negotiations before the breakthrough was made.

It marks a major coup for the Toffees, with Football Insider previously revealing on 26 June that both Newcastle and Tottenham were also interested in signing Dibling but Everton have now managed to beat off competition from their Premier League rivals.

He enjoyed a standout breakthrough season with Southampton, scoring four goals and providing three assists across 38 appearances in what was his first full campaign as a senior regular and now, he looks set to continue his rise back in the Premier League.

Despite making several signings already this summer, Everton’s recruitment drive shows no signs of slowing down.

Football Insider revealed Everton are monitoring Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney, who is open to leaving the Riverside this window.

However, they face strong competition from Crystal Palace, who are preparing to reinvest funds once Eberechi Eze’s expected move to Arsenal goes through.
