Steven Gerrard is regarded by many as one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players and one of the best midfielders to grace the Premier League.
The former Anfield captain is a role model for many with Gerrard coming through Liverpool’s academy to lead the Reds to the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup, with the midfielder doing so as one of the best in the world.
Although Alexis Mac Allister was recently likened to Gerrard, Liverpool have never really come close to finding a player as good as the club legend, a feat that might never happen given how influential the former England international was for the Reds.
Yet Arne Slot has now been told that one Liverpool player could become as good as Gerrard if he were to play in central midfield.

Speaking to BBC Sport, former Dungannon Swifts manager Joe McAree noted how Conor Bradley could one day become as good as Gerrard if Arne Slot were to move the right-back into the central midfield position.
Bradley came through at Dungannon’s youth groups on his way to joining Liverpool’s academy as a teenager, with McAree clearly a big fan of the fullback and the potential the 21-year-old has having emerged as a regular for the Reds.
Yet for McAree, Bradley could become even better if Slot were to take the risk and play the fullback in central midfield, a move that could make the Northern Ireland international become the new Gerrard at Liverpool.

McAree said about Bradley’s potential in midfield: “I still believe he’s a Steven Gerrard.
The first manager brave enough to put him into a Steven Gerrard role rather than right wing-back or right-back will have an even better player.”
Bradley evolving into a midfielder is not a far-fetched idea given how common the move from fullback to the centre of the park now is in football, with Trent Alexander-Arnold an example with the right-back used centrally for England.
Yet in Bradley’s case, the right-back needs to enjoy a full season as a starter for Liverpool before a plan to move into midfield can begin to take shape, with the youngster yet to be promoted to first-choice in Slot’s squad.
Indeed, this could well change next season with Alexander-Arnold expected to join Real Madrid in the summer, and if Bradley can go a full year as a starter for Liverpool, then plans to evolve his position could begin to take shape.
