Liverpool fans eagerly await to see who their next manager will be ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s departure.

The Premier League club have a fight on their hands because they aren’t the only major European team set to part ways with their manager.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich will also be looking for new coaches in the summer, so hopefully, Liverpool act quickly and get their man before the season is up.

Xabi Alonso was the dream name who was much talked about before he decided that he was going to stay with Bayer Leverkusen before guiding them to the German title.

Since then, many names have been thrown about in the hunt for Liverpool’s next manager, including Aston Villa’s Unai Emery and what seems to be the current favourite, Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim.

When Klopp’s legacy is talked about in years to come, one of the topics of discussion will be his battles on the touchline with Pep Guardiola.

The Treble-winning boss at Manchester City will go down as one of the greatest-ever coaches given his success at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and at the Etihad.

Danny Murphy joked about the 53-year-old doing the unthinkable and becoming Liverpool’s next manager, as he told talkSPORT (17/04/24 at 12:15 pm).

The former midfielder stated that Guardiola has always spoken highly about the club and the Anfield crowd.

But Simon Jordan made it clear to the ambitious pundit that it simply isn’t going to happen.

“He has always spoken about how wonderful the atmosphere at Anfield is and how great the Liverpool fans are,” said Murphy of Guardiola.

“So, maybe he fancies (Liverpool).”

Simon Jordan responded: “Well, he isn’t going there.”

Murphy then added: “That would be a surprise, wouldn’t it?!”

Where Liverpool are, at this moment in time, there is no doubt that the team are punching well above their weight.

The forward line was in transition last season and now it’s the turn of the midfield.

If Klopp wasn’t leaving at the end of the campaign, then fans would have been looking forward to the next season when the team would have expected to pick up the medals because they would have been more ready.

But given that Klopp will now depart, everyone associated with the club wants to ensure that it’s the perfect send-off and that could only happen with the Premier League title in hand.
