Former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has rubbed salt into the wounds and claimed that Rafa Benitez is ‘still a red’ after his comments about being Everton manager, as he posted on Instagram.

It’s baffling for Benitez to suggest that his past Liverpool ties meant that he couldn’t make the calls that he wanted as the Everton manager.

The out-of-work coach claimed that his past ties with Liverpool meant that he couldn’t do things his way during his days in the Everton dugout, as he told Sky Sports.

The Toffees sacked Benitez in January, just over six months after appointing the 62-year-old as manager for the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

“I love this from agent Rafa (Benitez),” said Enrique.

For the first time, Benitez has openly spoken about the Everton job and Enrique is loving what he is hearing from his fellow countryman.

We love you.” BENITEZ NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY At the end of the day, Everton, as a team, individuals and the fans, performed and they were a lot better once Frank Lampard replaced Benitez in the dugout.
