'He's too good': Joe Cole says £50m Liverpool player should go and sign for Inter Milan this summer

Liverpool look like they will be ruthless this summer and sell some stars if they get the right price.

The Reds are at the pinnacle of English football and to stay there, they will need to be bold and make some decisions that could upset a few people.

Next season’s pressure will also be much greater as not only will they aim to retain their Premier League title, but the Champions League will be very high up on their agenda.

Arne Slot will, therefore, want only the best quality players at his disposal, meaning the fringe players could be let go to make room for ones more likely to challenge for a spot in the starting XI.

There is one player in particular who is on the cusp of a starting position in the team but also nearing the Anfield exit, with everyone left divided over what he should do this summer.

However, ex-Liverpool player Joe Cole has suggested he is in line for a big-money move, with Inter Milan a destination he has suggested.

Inter Milan are one of the world’s most historic clubs and over recent years, they have slowly started to regain their status after making two Champions League finals in three years.

Although they lost both, donning the blue and black stripes is not something a player should take for granted as they are still one of the biggest teams in world football, with many players jumping at the opportunity to play for them.

Now, with Harvey Elliott proving why he should be playing week in, week out, Cole has tipped him to join a club of that size this summer, suggesting Inter as just one option.

“I don’t know where I can see him.

He’s too good to drop down into mid-range Premier League.”

Liverpool want £40m minimum for Elliott this summer, with a buy-back clause also included at this price, suggesting he will need a huge club to come in for him as many others will be priced out of a move.

Inter could be one of those, especially as they are due for a shake-up this summer due to an ageing squad, indicating that the youthfulness of Elliott could make him an attractive proposition.

Many clubs are interested in Elliott and it is no surprise either, especially after winning Player of the Tournament at the recent Under 21 European Championships.

This has not only increased the number of potential suitors, but driven up his market price, putting the Reds in a very favourable position.

However, despite pricing certain teams out of a move with their valuation, Carlton Cole believes he should go back to his old club Fulham, suggesting that he has unfinished business.

“I wouldn’t mind him back at Fulham.

He started at Fulham.

I first saw him playing under 16s at Fulham years back,” he said.

“And he actually wasn’t that impressive.
