It has been widely reported that the Barvarian outfit has missed out on several high-profile targets this summer, including Florian Wirtz to Liverpool, which has pointed them in Diaz's direction.
The Reds' answer to both Champions League rivals was Diaz is not for sale.
As well as the two European heavyweights, there has been interest from Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr.
Throughout the summer break, the No.7 himself has actively addressed his situation.
"We don’t know yet," he most recently told Win Sports when asked where his future lies, adding: "Nothing, nothing (to say).
"We’re there talking with the management, we’re calm where I am.
So nothing (to say), we’re talking about matters."
Diaz had earlier insisted that he was happy at Liverpool despite the ongoing speculation, though he stopped short of committing his future.
Instead, he revealed his representatives had been in discussions with other clubs.
"I'm very happy at Liverpool, I've always said so.
They've welcomed me very well from day one.
"We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs, and that's normal given the transfer market that's opening.
If they (Liverpool) give us a good renewal or I stay there for two years, I’ll be happy.
This means it is due to expire in 2027, when he would be 30 years of age.
Despite heading into the final two years of this contract, the ECHO understands Liverpool are relaxed about this and no imminent talks are planned to extend the forward's time with the club.
