As per the latest reports (via Fabrizio Romano), Florian Wirtz has agreed on personal terms with Liverpool, and the club are getting closer to bringing him to Anfield.
According to Anything Liverpool, Arne Slot played a crucial role in convincing the midfielder about the sporting project at the club.
Wirtz was one of the key players for Bayer Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso, where he played a big part in their historic league title win in the 2023/24 season.
He’s also in great shape this season, having scored 10 goals and provided 12 assists in the Bundesliga for the German side and 16 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.
Florian Writz Stats
Only two players have scored 10+ goals and 10+ assists in Europe’s top five leagues in the last two seasons – Mohamed Salah and Florian Wirtz.

The young midfielder could be seen in a similar role to what Jude Bellingham is playing at Real Madrid over the last two seasons.
The number 10 role would suit the German international perfectly, where he can control and anchor the midfield.
Slot might also prefer giving him a more attacking role.
Liverpool already have the Argentine maestro Alexis Mac Allister, who played a creative role in the 2024/25 season under the Dutch manager.
Adding Wirtz to that attacking mid-space could make Liverpool even more dangerous going forward.
In case of a three-man midfield, with Wirtz and Mac Allister playing together, Dominik Szoboszlai may need to drop deeper.
The Hungarian played a similar role against Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday night.
Szoboszlai seems to prefer the number 8 position.
It’s looking like the Liverpool boss won’t have to do much tactical work to fit the Bayer Leverkusen star into his system.
The Merseyside club could create one of the best midfields in Europe if they manage to get the deal done with the German side.
