Jamie Carragher has been accused of double standards(Image: Getty Images)
Jamie Carragher appears to have been left with egg on his face thanks to past remarks he made about Anthony Gordon's departure from Everton that seem to have come back to haunt him.
Football fans have suggested that he has ultimately contradicted his stance on the current Trent Alexander-Arnold saga after slamming the Toffees and their supporters over their treatment of Gordon, who left Goodison to Park to join Newcastle in 2023.
The Liverpool legend, 47, recently defended Reds fans upset by Alexander-Arnold's decision to leave the club this summer, arguing that only those with "an affiliation" to Liverpool should be entitled to comment on their emotional reaction.
However, critics were quick to highlight the inconsistency, unearthing a 2024 post criticising Everton for mocking Gordon.
Is it one rule for Liverpool and another for everyone else in his mind?" While another even labelled him a "massive hypocrite".

After Alexander-Arnold officially announced his exit last week, Carragher insisted that outside observers had no right to "tell Liverpool fans how to feel" following the intense reaction from Reds supporters.
"I'm sick all day of reading about journalists, or other people who have got no affiliation to Liverpool, telling Liverpool supporters how they should feel," he said on Sky Sports.
"Liverpool as a city and as a football club is very emotional, that's what makes us what we are.
But Liverpool supporters can also feel how they want about the situation."
Those emotions were evident during Sunday's 2-2 draw against Arsenal, when Alexander-Arnold made his first appearance since his announcement.
As he came on in the second half, loud boos echoed throughout Anfield – much to Carragher's astonishment.

"I'm surprised how many [fans booed him]," the former defender admitted on Sky Sports after the game.
I think you can expect frustration but I think the best thing Liverpool supporters can do if Trent Alexander-Arnold does play another game for Liverpool, which I think that is up in the air.
