Alexander Isak's bombshell decision to inform Newcastle United he wishes to explore his options this summer has certainly got Liverpool supporters excited.

Reports on Thursday emerged that Newcastle's talisman has supposedly informed his club he is considering making the next step in his career.

Newcastle have been clear throughout the summer that they will not be selling the striker, who has bagged them 62 goals in three seasons and as a consequence helped the club secure Champions League qualification in two of those.

By no means are they under pressure to give in with the player under contract for another three years, though such a steely determination has now been undermined by a sense of unhappiness that threatens to mar the start of the upcoming campaign if not resolved.

On the surface, Liverpool win from any potential deal for Isak as he is regarded as one of the Premier League's best goalscorers and strengthens a title-winning squad.

By joining that squad Isak, 25, increases his own chance of winning team and individual accolades moving into the so-called 'prime years' of his playing career.

In return Newcastle receive what has been speculated to be a British-record transfer fee of no less than £120m.

Losing such an important source of goals is going to require an immediate replacement.

Rumours that Newcastle could already be eying up potential alternatives for Isak only add to the sense that they may not be so against the idea selling Isak after all.

After The Athletic first reported the club's interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, Philipp Hinze of Sky Sports Germany reports of contact made by St.

Similarly, Ben Jacobs for GIVEMESPORT believes Leipzig teammate Lois Openda is another source of Newcastle's interest.

Both forwards are on the books of the most famous club in Red Bull's football operation, which of course is now overseen by head of global soccer Klopp - Liverpool's incredibly successful former manager of nine years.

A huge turn up for the books in Germany was the fact that Leipzig did not qualify for any European football in the upcoming 2025/26 campaign, the first time they have not done so since they were promoted to the Bundesliga in 2016.

German publication BILD reported coming into the summer that this is set to damage the club's revenue by approximately €60m (£51m), therefore Klopp and his other Red Bull decision-makers have reportedly decided the only way forward was the sale of some of their bigger stars to recoup major funds through transfers and saved wages.

Sesko and Openda, expected to fetch €70m (£60m) and €40m (£34.8m) as a minimum respectively, are two of their best options to go towards achieving their goal.

So, with the transfer merry-go-round in full tilt it would go as follows.
