Regardless of what happens at the Etihad, Liverpool will need to make sure it doesn’t slip up against Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

The left-back has undergone a scan back at the AXA Training Centre, but it would be a surprise at this stage to see him lining up on Sunday.

Kostas Tsimikas could therefore return in his place, but that won’t be the only decision to make in defense.

Ibrahima Konaté will be available to make his return after playing 90 minutes for France against Chile on Tuesday, and may replace Jarell Quansah from the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.

Conor Bradley, meanwhile, will be vying for a place back in the starting XI after impressing with Northern Ireland.

Harvey Elliott will be in the mix after an impressive international break, but Wataru End?, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are perhaps favorites to retain their places in midfield.

Mohamed Salah and Darwin Núñez were both given the international break off in order to recover from their recent injuries.

Hopefully that will hold them in good stead, and they can start once again alongside Luis Díaz in the front three.

Possible Liverpool line-up: Kelleher; Bradley, Konaté, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; End?, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Núñez, Díaz.

Liverpool.com says: There is no room for slip-ups now, especially with City facing Arsenal on Saturday.

Robertson will be a miss, but Tsimikas is a more than able deputy, and having Salah and Núñez could prove to be a huge boost after the international break.
