Liverpool still want to make a few more signings before the transfer window slams shut.
All the talk recently has been surrounding the Reds trying to finally buy a striker, with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike stealing the headlines.
But if Liverpool fans cast their minds back, bringing in a new centre-back was also a high priority and it remains that way, with Marc Guehi still linked with a move.
The Crystal Palace captain has just one year left on his contract and no progress has been made, with all the signs indicating that he will leave, whether that be this summer or next.
The Reds will likely be keen to do business sooner rather than later, however, due to Ibrahima Konate’s uncertain situation, suggesting the Englishman could arrive at Anfield in the coming weeks.
If that is to happen, though, Liverpool have been told what not to do in their pursuit of the 24-year-old as things could turn sour rather quickly.

The Reds have shown in the past that they are willing to sign players who have a year left on their contract, such as Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but only for the right price.
And, if one thing is known about Crystal Palace in the transfer window, it is that they drive a hard bargain and will not let their players go for cheap.

With Guehi a bit different to their usual centre-back profile, Liverpool will be looking to get Guehi on the cheap, something BBC journalist Sami Mokbel strongly believes they need to be careful in the way they go about it.
I don’t know if it’ll be necessarily that easy, knowing how Palace operate,” Mokbel told the Redmen TV YouTube channel.

“I think if Liverpool were to just go in with a low formal bid, what may happen is that you could risk antagonising the selling club.
All parties probably realise that there is a deal to be done here.”
Palace are said to be holding out for a fee of around £45m-£50m, whereas Liverpool feel a price of less than £40m is suitable.
This is certainly a transfer to keep an eye out for in the coming days, especially after the Reds complete the signing of Ekitike, with a centre-back highly likely to arrive before the new season starts.
Although Guehi is reportedly willing to run his contract down and move for free next summer, it might be best for all parties if he moves to Anfield as soon as possible.
Not only will Palace want some money for their captain, but Liverpool desperately need a defender as Konate is all but nailed on to leave for free next year.
That being said, if the Frenchman is unwilling to sign a new deal, perhaps the Reds should replace him now and see if they can sell him for at least a little bit of money.
This will prove to players that no one is bigger than the club, while also getting a replacement who will fit in very comfortably alongside Virgil van Dijk.
As well as this, Guehi will only attract a lot more interest if he is a free agent and demand much higher wages, so Liverpool should act while they are in pole position, rather than chase a lost cause later down the line.
