Liverpool have done some big business in the transfer market this summer and may yet add even more.

After a lean 18 months, the Reds have splashed the cash, making five major signings including the record addition of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

But while the Liverpool owners have put their money where their mouth is in an attempt to buy from a position of strength, they have also made plenty back in sales.

The balance is set to look even healthier after the news that Ben Doak is on the verge of joining Bournemouth for £25m.

As per the Liverpool ECHO, Doak will become a Bournemouth player, handing Liverpool a massive profit on the £600k they paid Celtic for the youngster in 2022.

Once Doak’s move to Bournemouth is confirmed, Liverpool will have seen eight players leave the club permanently this summer.

The biggest of the sales belonged to Luis Diaz, who joined Bayern Munich in a whopping £65.5m move.

Diaz’s sale was the third largest in Liverpool history, and represented an excellent deal for the Reds.

Meanwhile, although he ultimately represented a loss for Liverpool, Darwin Nunez also pulled in a big transfer fee, costing Al Hilal £56.6m

Jarell Quansah‘s move to Bayer Leverkusen is next on the list, bringing £35m of pure profit on the Liverpool academy graduate, with Doak’s £25m next in line.

More profit was banked from academy pair Caoimhin Kelleher and Tyler Morton who left for £18m and £15m respectively, while Trent Alexander-Arnold moved to Real Madrid for a nominal fee of £8.4m.

Finally, the £3m sale of Nat Phillips to West Brom means Liverpool have banked £226.5m in moving players on this summer.

Liverpool’s ability to secure big money for unwanted players has been part of the reason they have been able to spend so freely this summer.

However, when looking at the Reds’ net spend, it is clear that they have still opened their wallet to a degree as well.

Including add-ons, Liverpool have spent £292m this summer.

Given the big fees they have spent, that is not bad at all.

With Liverpool pushing for a deal to sign Alexander Isak, that figure could yet reach above £200m.

But, even then, it is not completely unheard of for a team at the top of the Premier League to spend such an amount.

There may be further outgoings adding to the tally as well, as Liverpool aim to complete their biggest summer yet.
