Brentford are at “huge” risk of relegation if they do not make immediate improvements to their squad with Yoane Wissa also expected to leave.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson explained that having lost a number of key players including their captain alongside manager Thomas Frank, the Bees could be in trouble.
Bryan Mbeumo’s move to Man United and Cristian Norgaard’s decision to join Arsenal placed them in a tricky position, with Wissa now expected to follow.
Football Insider revealed on 2 August that Brentford will reluctantly let Wissa join Newcastle despite having turned down the initial £25million offer.
The clubs are not believed to be far apart in their valuations, and there is a growing belief that Brentford will accept offers after he made clear his desire to leave.
As a result, Keith Andrews‘ side are now expected to step up their efforts to bring in replacements for their star men as they aim to avoid the looming threat of the drop.

This article contains exclusive comment from Paul Robinson, a football pundit and former England, Tottenham and Leeds goalkeeper.
Football Insider revealed on 13 July that Brentford would not sell both Wissa and Mbeumo this summer given their importance to the team.
However, there is a now a real possibility that Wissa follows his teammate out of the exit door in what would come as a huge blow to their plans for the season.
Robinson explained that major changes now need to take place at Brentford with large holes to fill before the season begins in less than two weeks’ time.
“They’re going to have to do replacing aren’t they,” he told Football Insider.
“With Ivan Toney going last year, you looked at it and thought ‘how are they going to replace him’ and they did it with Wissa and Mbeumo.
“To lose both of them, Norgaard and the manager, they’re going to have to do some heavy recruiting before the start of the season.
“I mean no disrespect to anyone at Brentford, but I think their Premier League security will be hugely tested.
“If they lose Mbeumo, who’s obviously gone already, Wissa, Norgaard who’s gone already, and don’t replace them, they’re four really big holes to leave.
“The manager [Thomas Frank] as well, we know how important he was.
“They’ve got some huge recruitment to do between now and the end of the window if Wissa does go.”

Having set their sights on improving the squad before the transfer window closes, Brentford have identified Celtic star Daizen Maeda as a potential target.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 31 July that Brentford are leading the race for Maeda ahead of the likes of Tottenham.
Talks over a potential new contract at Celtic have stalled in recent weeks and clubs are believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 28 July that Maeda has had his head turned by Premier League interest and is unwilling to commit to a new deal.
