The French forward has enjoyed an extremely impressive start to life on Merseyside.

Hugo Ekitike arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer in deal worth up to £79m, and he is already living up to that price tag.

Continuing on the promise that he showed in Germany, Ekitike has taken to life in England brilliantly thus far.

Still just 23 years of age, he has shown remarkable confidence and ability, scoring in his competitive debut for Liverpool at Wembley in the Community Shield against Crystal Palace, and in Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth.

Signed as part of Liverpool’s significant squad revamp this summer, Ekitike will be hoping that the potential acquisition of Isak doesn’t hinder his progress at Anfield.

He has done everything right so far, and scoring in his first two games for Liverpool will go some way to convince Arne Slot that he is a player that should not be dropped.

It has been confirmed however that if the signing of Alexander Isak was to happen, Liverpool’s plan was always to sign both of the forwards, with the aim of them playing together, and not one or the other.

Due to Ekitike’s explosive start to the season, he is now under consideration by France manager Didier Deschamps for his first ever senior call-up to the national team.

Deschamps is set to reveal on Wednesday his squad for France’s first 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

France will take on Ukraine and Iceland to kickstart their road to the next edition of the World Cup.

Hugo Ekitike is believed to be “better-placed” to receive a call-up, and could be aided by the current situation of Kolo Muani.

Muani has been a regular inclusion for France in recent years but he is yet to play a competitive game this season.

Hugo Ekitike will be looking to build on his fine start to life in England as Liverpool head to St

James Park to face Newcastle United tomorrow.

A game he will be particularly keen to impress in, given they are the current employers of his potential competitor for a place in the team, Alexander Isak.
