Liverpool started their title defence off with a win and some of their new signings impressed on debut.
The Reds, just about, managed to pick up all three points on the opening day of the season, with Arne Slot’s side edging past Bournemouth courtesy of late goals from Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah.
New signing Hugo Ekitike opened the scoring, though, and had a very impressive Premier League debut, with the Frenchman leading the line to good effect.
Michael Owen was also impressed by the 23-year-old and fans will be looking forward to what he can do, with the future looking exciting.
However, Ekitike did do something on his debut that only Darwin Nunez has done before, so supporters will hope that he goes on to achieve bigger and better things.

Liverpool wanted a striker all summer and before finding out that Alexander Isak was available, they decided to make a move for Ekitike instead.
And, although they are still looking at the Swede, Ekitike may have just proven that they do not need him, with his goal and assist on debut showing the quality he has.
With that said, Nunez did the exact same thing on his debut against Fulham three years ago and, well, everyone knows how that one turned out.

Whether this will be a bad omen or not is yet to be seen, but fans will be hoping that the 23-year-old has a much more successful time at Anfield, something that he very well could do.
Nunez has moved on to pastures new so the baton has now been passed on, with the start of the season getting off to the perfect start.
Although Nunez may not have been the best striker at Liverpool in recent years, he was certainly one of the more adored.
And, based on his official Anfield debut, Ekitike might just be loved to the same level, with the Frenchman already having a song that the fans sing.
He looked sharp, linked the play well and got the goal he would have been looking for, meaning that he was certainly more than deserving of a chant already.
The attack looked good but the defence was a little leaky, suggesting that Liverpool fans might go through a rollercoaster of emotions at times this season.
