Hugo Ekitike has flown to London to undergo a medical ahead of finalising his move to Liverpool.

Eintracht confirmed on Monday (July 21) that the striker was one of a number of players who would not travel with them for their pre-season tour of the United States after being ‘released for talks with other clubs’.

Their statement read: "Junior Dina Ebimbe, Aurelio Buta, Hrvoje Smolcic, Mo Dahoud and Hugo Ekitike have been released for talks with other clubs and will not travel to the training camp."

Ekitike instead flew to the United Kingdom on Tuesday morning to undergo his medical ahead of completing the switch to Merseyside.

But rather than head to Liverpool to undergo tests, he instead travelled to London with his agent, Karl Mwalako.

Once tests are complete, Ekitike is set to fly out to Asia to link up with his new team-mates for the first time, ahead of being confirmed and unveiled as a Reds player this week, after Liverpool landed in Hong Kong themselves for the start of their pre-season tour on Monday.

Liverpool were back in training on Tuesday over in Hong Kong as they had their first on-pitch training session.

Alexis Mac Allister was pictured among them, though the Argentine appeared to be taking part in an individual session as he continues to nurse his way back from injury.

The midfielder hasn't featured since the 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal in mid-May after sitting out the final two games of the Premier League season.

His setback saw him miss both of Argentina’s fixtures during the June international break, while he also did not feature for Liverpool in either of their opening pre-season friendlies against Preston North End and Stoke City.

Mac Allister has largely been training separately from his team-mates so far this pre-season as he continues to focus on rehabilitation.

After flying out to Hong Kong with his team-mates, he was pictured taking part in a stretching session following their arrival in Asia.

But while he was spotted kicking a ball in the latest pictures from Liverpool’s training session on Tuesday, Mac Allister was also seen working individually with head of rehab physiotherapy, Lee Nobes.
