Hugo Ekitike's transfer to Liverpool is approaching completion as the French forward has reportedly agreed personal terms on a six-year contract that would keep him at Anfield until 2031. Liverpool and Eintracht Frankfurt are in advanced negotiations over a deal exceeding £70 million for the 23-year-old striker, who impressed last season with 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances.

Although Ekitike has expressed his desire to join Liverpool, the clubs have yet to ratify a transfer agreement. Eintracht Frankfurt, known for tough negotiations, is holding out for a fee between €90 million and €100 million given their strong financial position following lucrative sales of players like Randal Kolo Muani and Omar Marmoush. However, the German club has signaled they will not obstruct Ekitike’s wish to move.

Despite transfer talks, Ekitike participated in Eintracht’s first pre-season friendly match against FSV Frankfurt, enabling fans to see him in action before the move is finalized. This involvement suggests a transfer is imminent but not immediate, as playing could risk injury prior to any medical checks at Liverpool.

Newcastle United also showed interest in Ekitike, submitting a £70 million offer that Eintracht rejected, leaving Liverpool in pole position with a higher bid. Liverpool had earlier pursued Alexander Isak from Newcastle but gave up after a £130 million bid was rebuffed and Newcastle prepared a new contract for Isak instead.
