Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitike (Image: FRANCK FIFE/AFP via Getty Images)Hugo Ekitike says it was 'a pleasure' to see Alexander Isak arrive at Liverpool on deadline day, relishing the strong competition for places he will provide.
As the 23-year-old arrived before the season began, he has acted as Slot's starting striker and scored in the first three of his four competitive appearances for the Reds so far.
This happened whilst the club continued their pursuit of Isak, which concluded with a British-record £125m deal going through last week on deadline day.

Isak will have to build up his fitness before any definitive decision can be made by Slot, though with a track record of finding the net in the Premier League the Swedish star would be heavily backed to be the head coach's trusted striker.
This may mean Ekitike dropping out of the starting XI entirely, though when faced with that question by the French media on Sunday afternoon he insisted he is ready to go toe-to-toe with his new Liverpool teammate.
"It’s fun.
Isak is a player I’ve watched too, so seeing him arrive is a pleasure," Ekitike began.
"It’s going to be tough competition, but I’m going to focus on performing well so that it’s a problem for the manager."
Currently waiting to see if he is handed his first senior start for France against Iceland on Tuesday, Ekitike has previously admitted he would be adaptable to swapping positions at Liverpool to accommodate another striker's arrival.
As he earmarked the left flank as where he could operate, that would have to come at Cody Gakpo's expense.
It’s the position I wanted to be in.
"When you have this kind of standard, you have to show that you belong here and you have to continue to perform.
"But it’s a position that I like and that I want to keep."
