Hugo Ekitike has claimed he will move to accommodate his Liverpool team-mates as they prepare to welcome Alexander Isak - who will almost certainly become the team's main striker.

The Frenchman moved to Anfield from Frankfurt for £79million after impressing in Germany.

He's enjoyed a stellar start to life on Merseyside having scored in the Community Shield and in the first two Premier League games of the season.

Liverpool signed Ekitike as they sought to bring in a central figure to their attack.

The Reds will spend a British-record fee to land him, which leaves them with two expensive players eyeing up the same position.

Ekitike though has confessed that he wants to have a number of strings to his bow and will move if it is in the best interests of the team, potentially giving up his role as the team's main striker.

He said recently: “I mean, I do what the coach asks me to do, but yeah, I like to do everything.

I can’t define myself only as a striker (who likes) to finish: I like to play, I like to be in the game, in the collective part of play (and) create also.

“So, I can do both – I can play alone and I like to play also with another striker and I think that’s what makes me versatile, but you know now in football you need to adapt.”

It remains to be seen how Arne Slot intends to use Isak and Ekitike in his attack - or if one of them will have to accept less game time.

Mohamed Salah commands his spot on the right whilst Florian Wirtz has been signed to play as a 10, which means the idea of Liverpool playing with two strikers is unlikely.

Jamie Carragher was among those to raise concerns with Liverpool potentially having a back-up worth just shy of £80m.

Isak's imminent arrival is likely to leave Ekitike playing second fiddle on occasion, which the Sky Sports pundit admitted he was uncomfortable with.
