Liverpool are on the brink of securing the signature of Eintracht Frankfurt's striker Hugo Ekitike, who will know what's expected of him at Anfield.
However, the imminent arrival of Ekitike, who is scheduled for a medical on Tuesday, would address a key concern that the Liverpool boss has been eager to resolve.
The Athletic has reported that Slot requires a centre forward who works hard off the ball, an order Ekitike has shown he's willing to follow during his stint at Frankfurt.
The deal marks a substantial windfall for Frankfurt, who chose to activate Ekitike's permanent transfer from PSG for roughly £14.3m (€16.5m) back in April 2024.
The Premier League champions have been searching for a young striker to serve as their long-term solution up front and Ekitike meets the club's requirements.
Slot emphasised the significance of a striker's work-rate when addressing Darwin Nunez's response to a squandered opportunity against Aston Villa in February.

"I can accept every miss, especially from a player that has scored two very important goals against Brentford, that scores for us in the home game against Villa," Slot said.
I think he was too disappointed after missing that chance and maybe – we will never know, we will never find out – that's why he was just a fraction short the moment afterwards."
Liverpool manager Slot chose not to depend heavily on Nunez throughout their title-winning season, with the Uruguayan receiving just eight league starts.
Nunez had been strongly tipped to join Napoli, but the Italian side have now signing Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca, casting uncertainty over the Liverpool player's future.

The Reds' eagerness to secure the right striker to strengthen their squad was demonstrated through their pursuit of Newcastle United's Alexander Isak.
