Liverpool has reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign French striker Hugo Ekitike who has already been compared to two world-class forwards.
Ekitike becomes the latest high-profile departure from Eintracht Frankfurt, following the exits of Randal Kolo Muani to Paris Saint-Germain for $110 million and Omar Marmoush to Manchester City in a $87 million deal.
Despite its reluctance to part ways with Ekitike, Frankfurt found it difficult to reject Liverpool’s offer, which neared the $116 million valuation it had set for the player.
His breakout form made him one of Europe’s most sought-after young attackers and marked a substantial return on the €16.5 million Eintracht paid PSG to sign him permanently last summer.
Towards the end of last season, Ekitike delivered another standout performance in a 2-1 Europa League victory over Ajax, leaving one pundit visibly stunned by his display.
Hugo Ekitike has been compared to both Neymar and Mbappe.
His standout performances last season were instrumental in securing Eintracht Frankfurt a place in the Champions League.
One clear theme unites Liverpool’s latest attacking additions: pace
