But speaking to Liverpool FC’s website, his teammate Ekitike is not worried about the first impressions of the midfielder in the first fixtures and offered fans a guarantee.

He explained: “Flo is a great, great player, he understands football I think as I understand football.

“We speak the same language on the pitch, so it’s kind of easy to have a connection with him.

But I think you guys haven’t seen everything yet, better days are coming.

“But obviously the connection is good.

We’re almost the same age, same generation, yeah, we talk the same football [language] and even outside football he’s a good guy.”

There is hope that after his performance for his country against Northern Ireland that he will be a more rejuvenated player heading into the next month of fixtures.

The away game against Burnley on Sunday should see the prospect shine against a newly promoted side.

The 23-year-old French forward is looking ahead to the game himself and for good reason.

Ekitike said: “I know two or three [Burnley] players from the youth team in the French national team, and I know they are good players, so I’m sure that’s a good team.

“We need to be focused and to play this game 100 per cent together, and I think it’s going to be good.”

He explained that while there is a busy schedule ahead, the star is ‘grateful’ to have the opportunity to play even more football in the weeks ahead.
