New signing Hugo Ekitike is already embedded with Liverpool’s 29-man squad in Hong Kong after flying in on Thursday night.

The Frenchman watched the Kai Tak open session then joined full training on Friday morning, taking part in light finishing drills as Arne Slot’s staff assessed his fitness.

For now, he has been handed the temporary squad number 54 because the club will not confirm permanent shirt allocations until the Adidas kit launch in August.

Supporters lined the team hotel and stadium to welcome him, and the 23-year-old could make a brief debut against Yokohama F.

With the transfer noise now dying down, the 23-year-old has now taken the opportunity to say goodbye to his now former club Eintracht Frankfurt.
