Liverpool are said to be closing in on a transfer for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike.

Arne Slot has been given money to spend this summer as the club look to defend their title.

The Reds have already spent more than £170million so far this window.



Florian Wirtz joined from Bayer Leverkusen this summer in a deal that could be worth £116million.

He joined teammate Jeremie Frimpong at Anfield, the full-back had already completed a £30million move to the club.

Liverpool now appear to be closing in on a move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike.

It adds that Ekitike has informed Frankfurt that he wants to make the move to Liverpool.

The Reds are said to want the forward on board as soon as possible with the club heading to Asia for their pre-season tour next week..

For the last few weeks, it has seemed that a move for Ekitike has been connected to Alexander Isak.

The Newcastle United striker has been of interest to Liverpool this summer, but the Magpies are said to be demanding a price tag in excess of £120million.

Ekitike could potentially be seen as an alternative target with Liverpool possibly turning their attention away from Isak.

Another connecting factor is Newcastle’s own interest in Ekitike, the club have has offers rejected for the France U21 international this season.
