Liverpool will need to sell players like Darwin Nunez in order to fund their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitke, according to reports.
The France under-21 international is said to be attracting Premier League interest after a superb season in the Bundesliga.
The Reds have been repeatedly mentioned in the running to sign the attacker but it has been suggested that Chelsea are leading the chase to sign him.
In the last 24 hours, Sky Sports Germany have claimed that Manchester United are exploring the possibility of signing the frontman as a solution to their struggles.
Arne Slot's side are edging closer to landing the blockbuster signing of Florian Wirtz which will take their summer spending towards £150million after signing Jeremie Frimpong at the beginning of the window.

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for the 22-year-old to make him the most expensive player of all time at Anfield.
However, with reports suggesting that the Reds are keeping tabs on Ekitike, it throws their efforts of bolstering the squad under the microscope.
According to Florian Plettenberg, chiefs at Anfield will need to sell-to-buy in order to further reinforce the squad with the former Paris Saint-Germain forward's signature.

In order to do so, the Sky Sports Germany reporter has claimed that offloading the likes of Nunez, who is reportedly on the list of targets for Saudi Pro League teams and clubs in Europe, will push towards allowing the Reds to sign the forward.
"Liverpool see themselves having a very good chance in the race for Hugo Ekitike," he tweeted.

"However, they have clearly signalled that they still need some time, as sales (including Darwin Nunez) need to happen first.
"Ekitike is aware of this.
All three teams have received the same information: his price tag is €100m."
With Liverpool already splashing an initial £100million on Wirtz, should they move to sign Ekitike, they will need to test Frankfurt's resolve which is currently looking for around £85million.
This week, the German club's sporting director Markus Krosche issued a blunt response to any hopes of a possible bargain arrival at Anfield.
"If the price isn't right, then he'll simply stay with us," he said.
