The Reds have been credited with an interest in signing Ekitike for several months, as the rumours about potentially bringing a new centre-forward to Anfield continue.
Ekitike has also been linked with other Premier League clubs this summer, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea, while Newcastle United have also been mentioned as a potential destination in the past.

Liverpool are reported to have held talks with Ekitike's representatives in the past, but are yet to start negotiations with Frankfurt.
Arsenal are also mentioned in the report as showing a "serious" interest in signing the 23-year-old this summer.
For Liverpool, the report claims that the Reds will move to sign a new striker once Darwin Nunez joins Napoli in a permanent deal.
The Serie A giants have been heavily linked with signing the Reds striker, and if Nunez was to depart, it would free up room in the squad for a new centre-forward to move to Anfield.

It remains to be seen what Liverpool will do in the striker market this summer, with Newcastle United's Alexander Isak and Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres also mentioned as potential targets on the rumour mill in recent weeks.
Liverpool have already been busy in the transfer market this summer with a spend of more than £200million.
The Reds have added Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman to their squad, while also welcoming 2024 signing Giorgi Mamardashvili to Anfield.
