The race for the Premier League title is starting to shape up, and Liverpool are already leading the way.
Arne Slot’s side have already won all five of their opening games this season, with their latest victory a narrow 2-1 win over Everton in the Merseyside Derby.
Unlike their opening four fixtures, there was no need for the Reds to leave it late against their local rivals, with Hugo Ekitike and Ryan Gravenberch’s goals enough to secure victory, even if it was a nervy end to the game.
They have had to rely on special moments to win their first four fixtures, but if the display in the first half at Anfield is anything to go by, hopefully, it is the start of a more dominant performance for the side.
It is something that will become very important as the title race really starts to heat up because last year’s runners-up, Arsenal, are looking to challenge for the title once again.

Both teams have spent heavily in the window, with Slot’s side strengthening in all areas of the pitch after spending around £450 million on some of the world’s best talents to add to an already impressive squad.
Their attacking depth is what is most exciting this season, and it could be a difference maker in terms of output when you are trying to get ahead of a consistent Mikel Arteta squad.
However, while both sides have made impressive recruitments in the window and have many strong XI’s they can rotate, Jamie Carragher feels Arsenal have an advantage.

He was asked alongside a Sky Sports panel, how he thinks both sides compare to each other, and Carragher made a distinction between their squads.
Carragher explained: “You think with Wirtz coming in Isak still hasn’t sort of fully established himself that will come.
But Roy’s just mentioned there about Arsenal’s squad.
“I actually think Liverpool have maybe got the best team, I would say, if you’re picking a best 11.
But in terms of squad-wise I think Arsenal’s squad is fantastic and I do think they have a great opportunity this season of winning the title.”
It may be a fair difference that he has highlighted, but there is an argument that when Liverpool can find the right balance, this point would tip in their favour.
After six games, there is difficulty predicting how the title race will actually pan out, but the early indications look great for the Merseyside giants.
The Reds’ fixture list for the next month provides some interesting reading but also some crucial fixtures.
Crystal Palace away can be a tricky game, especially given the fact that the Eagles were able to pip Liverpool to the Community Shield this past August.
But the Chelsea and Manchester United games are huge, even if the latter is on a poor run of form.
Chelsea have been seen as contenders for the title, but they have found themselves on a poor two-game run where they drew to Brentford and United, so it is important for Slot’s men to put on a dominant display to further the gap.
Facing the Red Devils is always important because of the history of the two clubs, and anything but a win will dampen the spirits of the side.
Given the recent form, though, it should not be a problem for Liverpool, whether it be late or just holding on, this season, there are markers that they will be champions again.
