‘I am not going to say’: Tom Cairney refuses to say one thing about Liverpool ahead of Fulham tie

When Liverpool travel to Craven Cottage on Sunday, it will be the fourth time this season that they will lock horns with Fulham.

Two of those matches happened during Liverpool’s League Cup triumph, with a 2-1 win at Anfield and a score draw in London.

Despite that win leading Jurgen Klopp’s side to a trophy, it probably doesn’t top what the fans and players witnessed back in December in the Premier League.

That incredible 4-3 win, and comeback, has been one of the highlights of the campaign and what fans would do to experience such emotions again!

Tom Cairney could be in line to feature in those matches – he started the last game at the Cottage and assisted at Anfield.

But given all this talk of Liverpool missing chances, given how the team has shot themselves in the foot in the Premier League by missing chance after chance.

Cairney was asked to share his thoughts on that, but he made it clear ‘I am not going to say they can’t finish’, as he told Soccer Special on Sky Sports (16/04/24 at 7:25 pm).

The midfielder also added that he doesn’t want to jinx the possibility of Darwin Nunez netting himself a hat-trick.

After the shock of losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace and denting the team’s Premier League title chances, this is going to be a very close game at the weekend.

One thing is for sure, the Reds have the respect of the opposition because Cairney spoke highly of Klopp’s side.

On what he is expecting to face: “I am not going to say too much, I am not going to say ‘they can’t finish, just in case Nunez gets a hat-trick,” laughed Cairney.

“We have played them three times this season.

I am sure you watched the League Cup, we lost by a goal over two legs and we had an amazing 4-3 game at Anfield earlier on in the season.

“Listen, I have never seen them in a bad game.

But I am expecting a reaction, it’s going to be a tough, tough game.

I am sure they will create a few.”

First off, Marco Silva’s side come into this game refreshed after not playing in midweek and also beating West Ham United.

So, they will have that extra energy which will make them very dangerous, especially during the latter stages of the match.

Perhaps that will play into the team’s hands, but either way, they are going to be very, very dangerous.
