Are the wheels falling off at Liverpool?

It certainly feels like it!

Usually, Liverpool are the calm heads, the team with the monster mentality, not someone who falters and falls like a ball in the sky.

That touchline spat between Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah has dominated the headlines this past week – and will probably continue to do us until the weekend.

Given that Klopp is departing at the end of the season, it has left a bitter taste in many people’s mouths and it’s not the way people want all of this to end.

In truth, the Liverpool players have to look at themselves because, from back to front, they have and are letting their manager down with their performances.

You can look at the toothless attack or the leaky defence, it’s all going wrong.

That was proven during the 2-2 draw against West Ham United on Saturday, which came only days after losing the Merseyside derby.

One of the things Anton Ferdinand noticed from that game at the London Stadium was the actions of Virgil van Dijk.

The former West Ham defender accused the club captain of acting like Bruno Fernandes by throwing his hands about during the game, as he told FIVE.

He also added that, for Michail Antonio’s goal, which came just before the exchange between Klopp and Salah, the two to blame for that were van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold because they were ‘arguing’ with each other.

“I watched Liverpool closely because I was at the game,” said Ferdinand.

“I am seeing big Virg, the hands are going everywhere.

We score.”

These are the final few weeks of Klopp’s legendary reign at Anfield and many fans will be hoping it ends with a few wins.

Everyone acknowledges that the title is gone, it’s now a case of turning these past few negatives into positives.

And also ensuring Klopp’s final game – at home to Wolves – is nothing but a win.

That afternoon is going to be pretty emotional for all because, before Arne Slot can enter the building, they have to say goodbye to one of their best ever.
