Everton are exploring a loan move for Jack Grealish but Tottenham’s chances of making a late swoop have shot up after an update on James Maddison’s injury emerged.
Spurs were keen to add a new attacking midfielder this summer and made a £60million bid for Morgan Gibbs-White, triggering the Nottingham Forest man’s release clause.
However, the Tricky Trees fired back, claiming the North London side had obtained knowledge of the clause illegally, and the England international signed a new deal to stay at the City Ground shortly after.

And Spurs’ desire to bring in a new number 10 will likely be elevated after it was revealed that Maddison will miss the majority of next season after suffering an ACL injury that will require surgery [The Guardian].
Without their creator-in-chief and with a need for a new facilitator, Tottenham have eight days to find a replacement before their Premier League campaign kicks off.
This article contains exclusive comment from former Southampton and England striker Matt Le Tissier.
Grealish will be on the move this summer, and Everton have been the first to make a move for the 29-year-old, approaching Man City about the possibility of signing the winger on loan.

Having fallen out of favour at the Etihad, the former Aston Villa man was left out of the Club World Cup squad this summer, giving him the chance to facilitate his own exit.
But after Maddison’s devastating blow, Matt Le Tissier tipped Tottenham to swoop for Grealish, telling Football Insider exclusively: “I like James, he’s an incredibly creative midfielder and when he’s on song, he can make the ball do anything.

“It’s a big blow for Spurs, those ACL injuries are not very nice, and that’s pretty much his whole season done.
“I think they would have to probably be looking at trying to fill that void.
“The more I think about it, the more Jack Grealish would make sense to get himself to Spurs.
Le Tissier then gave some insight on Maddison’s injuries from an ex-professional’s perspective, saying: “You’ve got to feel for the horrible injuries.
“Any professional footballer that has to spend months in the treatment room, I can tell you it’s not a nice feeling, I can assure you.”
Tottenham will not make a move for Eberechi Eze this summer despite Maddison suffering a horror injury, the club’s ex-scout Mick Brown told Football Insider.
The former scout thinks that other options would suit Spurs better, especially given that Crystal Palace are desperately keen to keep hold of the England international.

With his price tag being another sticking point, taking Eze off the table as an option for Tottenham makes Grealish an even more suitable candidate.
The former Villa man is handsomely compensated by City, but Spurs would likely be able to sign him on loan, making any fee they pay for the 29-year-old minimal.
