Liverpool fans were largely delighted to see Federico Chiesa remain at the club beyond the end of the summer transfer window.
The Italian has become something of a cult hero on Merseyside and there is a feeling that he has not been given a fair crack of the whip since his arrival.
It had been expected that Chiesa would leave this summer, with a return to Italy seeming the most likely exit route.
However, in a surprise turn of events, Chiesa did not get his move, and had looked all set to play a bigger role in the Liverpool squad this season instead.
But then came the signing of Alexander Isak, and after being bumped down in the pecking order once again, Chiesa was left out of Liverpool’s Champions League squad earlier this week.
With the Turkish transfer window still open until September the 12th, journalist Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool are now facing interest in Chiesa from Besiktas.

It tends to be forgotten that clubs in Turkey can sign players far beyond the rest of their European counterparts.
This can often lead to clubs like Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce picking up scraps from the Premier League and other divisions across the continent.

After Chiesa’s surprise omission from Liverpool’s Champions League squad, it is perhaps no surprise to hear that Besiktas called for the Italy international.
However, according to Romano, the club from Istanbul are attempting to sign Chiesa on loan, something Liverpool have no interest in.
“In the last 24 hours, 48 hours, Besiktas tried to call for Federico Chiesa, to understand his situation at Liverpool,” the reporter told his YouTube channel on Saturday evening.
“What I can tell you is that Liverpool are not letting Federico go on loan.
Liverpool don’t want to loan him.”
Towards the end of the window, the noises had been that Chiesa was determined to stay at Liverpool and fight for his place.
Although it has made things more difficult for him, the arrival of Isak should not change that.
It is not as though the Swede’s signing was a surprise to anyone.
Nevertheless, it would be understandable if Chiesa was feeling disappointed after Arne Slot picked Rio Ngumoha over him in the Champions League.
And while Liverpool obviously are not willing to loan their No.
14 out, it would be interesting to hear the outcome if Besiktas try to buy Chiesa.
With fans believing the Reds are already a little short in attack, it may be that Slot simply does not entertain the sale of Chiesa full stop.
