Rangers fans are all in agreement over Cyriel Dessers’ future after Russell Martin’s latest update on the striker’s injury.
The 30-year-old played just 54 minutes against Viktoria Plzen in a Champions League qualifier on Tuesday,12 August, before being forced off with a knee injury, which appeared very serious.
Despite losing 2-1 on the night, the Gers progressed to the next round 4-2 on aggregate, setting up a clash with Belgian giants Club Brugge on Wednesday, 27 August.
Dessers has long been linked with a Rangers exit, experiencing many highs and lows since his move from Cremonense in 2023, dividing opinion amongst fans at Ibrox over the last three campaigns.

Now, with links away from Ibrox only becoming stronger as the summer transfer window nears its end, fans have made their minds up on what the club needs to do with the Nigerian international.
Speaking to the press ahead of the Gers’ Scottish Cup clash against Alloa Athletic, Russell Martin said: “Cyriel Dessers’ injury was not as bad as we thought; he is still sore, but he will be back in the upcoming weeks.”
Hamza Igamane, who is also linked with a Rangers exit, has yet to fully return to the first team following injury, leaving Danilo as the only fit and available striker right now.

While the Brazilian has looked sharp over the last few weeks, he is constantly an injury worry for the Union Bears, starting just 13 Scottish Premiership matches over the last two seasons.
Nonetheless, supporters are ready to cash in on Dessers, whose theatrical fall against Viktoria Plzen forced him off after an opponent made contact with his face during the game.
Dessers has hit the back of the net just once this season, but with 51 goals in 109 games before that, he has become a vital part of the squad under any of the previous managers since his arrival.
However, with the news that his injury is not as serious as first thought, one fan said, “Great news.
The window doesn’t shut until September,” while another said, “I can’t deal with another year of him.”
