Liverpool’s summer officially got underway on Friday as they announced the arrival of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.
The Reds had seen their first movement of the summer earlier in the day, with Trent Alexander-Arnold confirmed to be heading for Real Madrid.
Liverpool will bank an impressive £10m for Alexander-Arnold, whose contract was set to expire at the end of June.
In his wake has come Frimpong, who joins after Liverpool triggered his £30m release clause.
The 24-year-old becomes the fourth Dutch national team player in the Liverpool squad and Reds fans will hope that he is followed swiftly by former Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz.
In the meantime, Frimpong has been settling in at Liverpool, with his first interview as a new Reds player airing on Friday evening.
And when asked about one of his new teammates in particular, the Dutchman could not hide his excitement.

Although he has played as a right-back, The Athletic report that Liverpool do not necessarily see Frimpong as a direct replacement for Alexander-Arnold.
Instead, he has reportedly been brought in to become another option for Arne Slot ‘across the pitch.’

Either way, it is probable that Frimpong will spend plenty of time on the right side for Liverpool alongside Mohamed Salah.
When asked about the prospect of playing alongside Salah during his first interview with LFCTV, Frimpong admitted it was something he was looking forward to.

“For me, playing with world-class players as a footballer is a privilege,” says the former Leverkusen man.
“Like, brah, I’m going to be next to Mo Salah, not just him, the whole Liverpool squad.
Just Liverpool in general.
I’m excited for these things, 100 per cent.”
As well as the prospect of playing with Salah, Frimpong is also clearly looking forward to being coached by Slot.
Asked about the Liverpool head coach, the right-back confirmed that he had already spoken to him ahead of completing the move.
“I spoke to the manager a few times,” Frimpong said.
