Liverpool have plenty of new additions and a very exciting season to look forward to.

Reds fans have had a summer to remember and it is not over yet, with the squad having a refresh as they aim to retain their Premier League title.

The biggest signing of the summer is, of course, Florian Wirtz, with the German arriving for £116m after rejecting the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

Liverpool do not usually sign a player of Wirtz’s quality and instead opt for one who can progress into one of the world’s best, rather than being one already.

However, this change in approach is an exciting time for the supporters and one that could signal real intent, with the 22-year-old already showing things in training that would suggest a new era is beginning.

The Reds are currently on their pre-season tour of Asia, with their first game taking place on Saturday 26th July against AC Milan in Hong Kong.

In the meantime, the training camp is in full flow and Arne Slot is getting a good look at all of his options, in particular the new arrivals.

And, based on what Ryan Gravenberch has seen, Wirtz should have no trouble finding his way into the team next season.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES

“I think everyone knows Florian and also here in training he is a really good player,” the Dutchman told Liverpoolfc.com.

“He’s technical and has really good vision, so I am really happy that he is here and I can’t wait for the season to start also to play with him.”

Gravenberch and Wirtz are expected to play often together as part of a midfield three, with Alexis Mac Allister completing the trio.

The balance that Liverpool now have in this area of the pitch is simply frightening, with this perhaps where the Premier League title could be won and lost next season.

If you look at the options the Reds have all over the pitch, it is hard not to tip them to win the league again, especially now they have such an elite creator in Wirtz.

Liverpool have sometimes lacked the ability to break teams down who play a low block and pick out an intricate pass that not many can see, but the 22-year-old can provide that.

He gives Liverpool something different and can create a sense of unpredictability that is hard to defend, while also possessing the work rate needed to fit into a Slot team.

Now that they are about to sign a striker as well in the form of Hugo Ekitike, he should, hopefully, have a clinical player in front of him to maximise his creative output.

With Salah to his right and Cody Gakpo to his left, it is very hard to see Wirtz struggle in the final third, suggesting that record-breaking fee will pay for itself over time.
