Simon Jordan has his doubts over the signing of Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham amid new developments on Joao Palhinha.

Following their Europa League victory amidst a shambolic domestic campaign, the Lilywhites have acted fast to bolster their squad.

Set to play Champions League football despite their 17th-place finish, Daniel Levy has brought in more players to help new manager Thomas Frank ride the flurry of fixtures.

Both Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel proved themselves to warrant permanent signings from Lens and Bayern Munich.

Additionally, the acquisitions of defensive prodigies Kota Takai and Luka Vuskovic demonstrate the long-term planning underway in north London.

Most notably, the club swooped in to bring West Ham’s Kudus to Spurs for a reported £55million (Sky Sports).

Speaking on talkSPORT (31 July), ex-Crystal Palace chairman Jordan assessed whether Spurs have what it takes to progress after winning their first trophy in 17 years.

The debate came after Tottenham chairman Levy expressed his desire to win the Premier League and the Champions League, Jordan said: “There is no doubt that Daniel Levy – who doesn’t want to be successful?

“But, the success at all cost mentality is not Spurs’ raison d’être [reason of being].”

When discussing whether the new Ghanian acquisition is enough to help the Lilywhites win more titles, the pundit said: “Spurs are a half-decent side.

“There are certain players Spurs could improve on.

“Kudus is a decent signing.

Is he a signing that can win you things?

I don’t know.”

His analysis of the need for the squad to recruit more players comes after The Athletic (31 July) reported that the north London side are eyeing up a season-long loan for former Fulham midfielder Palhinha.

Whether the Ghanian will take Frank’s side to the next level remains to be seen ahead of an important first season for the Dane.

However, the possible arrival of the Portuguese target could be crucial to add more title-winning experience to the team.

The 30-year-old was part of the Bayern Munich side that topped the Bundesliga with 82 points last campaign.

Injuries frustrated the ex-Sporting CP midfielders, only managing to feature in half of the Bavarian side’s set of games (17).

Yet, during his time in England, the holding midfielder was a dominant presence under Marco Silva at Fulham.

Should he be able to stay fit for the whole season, snapping the number 16 up on a temporary basis could be a masterstroke as the Lilywhites compete on multiple fronts.

His potential move could see the end of Yves Bissouma at Spurs, given Palhinha would want to be first-choice for the holding role.

Adding the Portugal international to the fold alongside Kudus would be major steps to the club reinforcing their squad.
