At the moment, several names are being thrown into the hat for Liverpool to target this summer, but there’s one player who seems to be constantly cropping up.
One of the main areas Slot has been looking to strengthen this summer is his striker.
Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo all shared the role last term, and while Diaz and Gakpo put in a more than solid effort, the Uruguayan left a lot to be desired.
And now, while speaking on The Transfer Exchange Show, transfer insider Steve Kay has given his verdict on the Reds’ attempted heist for Alexander Isak.
“Only Liverpool know what they were thinking going for Isak.

“I don’t know what Liverpool went in for or if they made a bid.
Newcastle now are looking for another striker, someone else to come in to play up front with Isak.”
Even though Liverpool are in the advanced stages of bringing Hugo Ekitike to Anfield, there’s no doubt that they’d have preferred to sign Isak instead.
Of course, there’s a chance that Liverpool go back in for him next season, but at the moment, it feels like a move is dead in the water.
