England manager Thomas Tuchel has not ruled out the possibility of Mason Greenwood making a future return to the Three Lions squad.

Tuchel is preparing for England‘s next two World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia, with the World Cup less than a year away.

Former Manchester United forward Greenwood has not played for England since September 2020, his only cap for his country.

The 23-year-old had serious charges against him dropped in 2023, and he left Man United by mutual agreement after a “six month internal investigation into his conduct” [BBC Sport].

Greenwood currently plays for Marseille in Ligue 1, and has the right to play for Jamaica through his mother, and now has a passport and citizenship for the Caribbean nation.

However, Greenwood has yet to accept a call-up to the Jamaica national side, and The Sun [5 September], report that Tuchel remains open to giving the forward a chance in his team.

I don’t rule anything out but he is no priority at the moment.”

Football Insider Verdict

Greenwood is continuing to wait for a call from England, and is currently rejecting the advances of Jamaica who clearly want the forward to bolster their ranks.

Calling up Greenwood to the England squad again could be a controversial decision, and perhaps Tuchel wants to avoid questioning on any legal matters.

Tuchel has plenty of attacking options, and Greenwood not playing in the Premier League could count against him.
