Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to join Real Madrid in the summer(Image: Getty Images)
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been warned that Real Madrid fans will not tolerate a dip in his performance levels, even just for one game.
The Liverpool defender finally confirmed on Monday that he is leaving the club this summer, following months of speculation.
The Reds right-back is now set to join Los Blancos on a free transfer, ending his 20-year affiliation with Liverpool.
While a huge success at Anfield, with the full-back regarded as a generational talent in his position, Alexander-Arnold's defensive ability has frequently come under the spotlight.
Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit, 54, has now warned the star that Madrid fans will be quick to turn on him should he suffer a defensive lapse, claiming that he will not have the support that the Anfield faithful once offered him.
"It's a mess at Real Madrid and if you have one or two bad games, you get killed by the fans," Petit told SambaSlots.
He will now depart having won two Premier League titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup, two League Cups, the Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.

However, Liverpool's recent success, coupled with Madrid's current state, with manager Carlo Ancelotti about to exit after an underwhelming campaign, means the move presents itself as a baffling one to ex-Barcelona star Petit.
Like some hopeful Liverpool fans, Petit was also sure Alexander-Arnold's euphoric celebration against Leicester, as Liverpool marched to their 20th top-flight title, was a shred of evidence that he was perhaps staying put on Merseyside.
"Trent Alexander-Arnold is an icon, a legend at Liverpool and his celebration against Leicester a few weeks ago was brilliant," he said.
"It made me think he could stay at the club, especially after seeing Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk signing new deals.

"My advice to Alexander-Arnold would be that he has won the Premier League again with Liverpool.
He will always compete for the Champions League with Liverpool, so why would you want to go and join Real Madrid in their current state?"
