Eddie Howe is coming under increasing pressure as Newcastle struggle to find answers in the transfer market this summer.

The former Bournemouth boss has been instrumental in the Magpies’ rise from relegation contenders to perennial qualifiers for Europe.

And although Newcastle won the Carabao Cup and qualified for the Champions League, former England striker Matt Le Tissier told Football Insider exclusively he was concerned that Howe would “pay the price” for the club’s dismal transfer window.

The North Eastern club have missed out on target after target this summer, with the latest being Benjamin Sesko, who has chosen to join Man United over the Magpies, despite Ruben Amorim‘s side having failed to qualify for Europe.

Howe has also had to deal with Alexander Isak’s absence from pre-season, and the English boss has often seemed out of the loop on the Swedish striker’s situation, saying in a press conference via Craig Hope of the Mail: “My wish is that he stays, but that’s not in my full control.”

Sources told Football Insider that Newcastle think Howe is partly to blame for their transfer failings, citing the manager’s “indecisiveness”.

Le Tissier told Football Insider exclusively that whoever’s fault the poor window was, the 47-year-old would be the one to pay the price, especially if the Magpies have a poor start to the season.

He said: “I think it is a little bit concerning, especially if they have a poor start to the season and you have that on top of a poor transfer window where you’re not attracting the players.

“Even if it’s the club’s fault that they’re not attracting the players because they’re not paying the money, we know who pays the price for that when the results start going pear-shaped.

“It’s going to be a difficult one.

“Hopefully for him the club start off well, get some good results and he’s not under pressure early.”

When it rains, it pours.

Al-Nassr are ready to pay Brentford’s asking price for Yoane Wissa this summer.

The DR Congo international was in stellar form last season, scoring 19 Premier League goals for the Bees.

Yoane Wissa is a target for Newcastle.

And with a year remaining on his contract, Wissa seemed like the perfect addition for Newcastle, either as an Isak replacement or as a versatile option to work around the Swedish striker.

But once again, it appears that Howe and his side will miss out on one of their summer targets.
