Liverpool finally lifted the Premier League title this weekend, with Alexis Mac Allister taking part in the trophy celebrations at Anfield.

The Argentine international missed the final matches of the season due to injury with Arne Slot opting to give Mac Allister an early end to the campaign rather than forcing the former Brighton & Hove Albion star to play for Liverpool with the Premier League already wrapped up.

With Liverpool fans noting how much they missed Mac Allister against Crystal Palace, the 26-year-old midfielder has enjoyed his best year yet in England with the Reds having played an influential role in the centre of the park alongside Ryan Gravenberch.

And Mac Allister has now shared why winning the Premier League was just as ‘special’ for the South American as winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina.

Speaking to Liverpool’s official YouTube channel after the match, Mac Allister shared that Liverpool supporters have made this title win as big for him as winning the World Cup with Argentina three years ago.

With Mac Allister also saying his goal vs Tottenham was more important than scoring in the World Cup, the Argentine midfielder clearly has a strong link to what Liverpool have achieved this season under Arne Slot.

And the 26-year-old has now seemingly put winning the Premier League on the same level as winning the World Cup, with Liverpool supporters and the culture of the club playing a big role in selling the dream to the midfielder this season.

Mac Allister said: “I love winning trophies and the Premier League is one of the most special trophies in the world.

I feel lucky to have won a World Cup, but this is special because of the fans, now I’m looking forward to winning more.”

Mac Allister arrived at Liverpool last season as an attacking midfielder with a goal contribution record good enough to become one of the most productive players for the Reds, yet a change in style to a deeper role from Jurgen Klopp that has been continued by Slot has changed everything.

Yet in doing so, Mac Allister is now on his way to becoming a modern Liverpool legend in the truest sense of the word, with the Argentine international enjoying his best year yet in the Premier League having played a key role in guiding the Reds to the title.

And heading into next season, Mac Allister will want to have an even better year with Liverpool, with even more silverware already being eyed up by the former Brighton man in what could be another year to remember for the Reds.
