Liverpool drew with West Ham on Saturday, but the main story after the game was a falling out between Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah.

The Liverpool manager and the Reds’ star man had a spat on the touchline just before Salah was subbed on against the Hammers, and there’s been all sorts of speculation this week about what happened here.

So, what actually happened?



Well, someone who was close to the incident was Michail Antonio, and speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, the striker has shared what he’s heard Klopp said to Salah at the weekend.

Antonio shared what he’s heard about this incident.

“So basically, this is not inside information, but what I have heard, this is what the boys have been talking about on the training ground.

As players come on Klopp usually gives them a big hug, but when Mo came on he walked in a different direction and did his shinpads and stuff.

Klopp put his hand out to him and his hand was there for a bit and he just slapped his hand.

Klopp didn’t like that and was like ‘do you want to sit back down’, basically saying do you want to go on?

And nobody has told me what Mo said back,” Antonio said.

While this was a bit of a dramatic moment between Klopp and Salah, we can’t imagine this is one that will linger for too long.

By the sounds of it, this was just a bit of emotion boiling over in a single moment as Liverpool struggled on the pitch, and after so many years together, it shouldn’t be too difficult for Salah and Klopp to kiss and make up after this incident.

Salah does need to be a bit less petulant in these situations, but, at the same time, we can understand why he wasn’t necessarily too focused on acknowledging his manager when he was in the zone ready to enter a game that needed rescuing.
