Liverpool are preparing a fresh offer of around £120million to sign Alexander Isak and remain confident of getting a deal over the line.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 25-year-old has now burnt his bridges at St James’ Park.

This comes after reports [David Ornstein] claimed the striker, who has three years remaining on his deal, is insisting he will never play for the club again.

However, Brown told Football Insider on 12 August that Isak would be in breach of contract should he refuse to play, further complicating the situation.

Despite the potential ramifications of his decision, the striker remains determined to force through a move to Anfield, encouraging a new offer.

Football Insider revealed on 28 July that Liverpool are increasingly “confident” of signing Isak, and remain so despite having their initial bid rejected.

This article contains exclusive comment from Mick Brown, a football transfer expert and former chief scout for Man United and Sunderland among others.

Football Insider revealed on 2 August that Liverpool could “shatter” the British transfer record with a new bid for Isak despite Newcastle’s reluctance to sell.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that a new offer worth “at least” £120million is expected to land before the window closes.

“Newcastle aren’t being held to ransom,” he told Football Insider.

“They don’t want to let Isak go, but if he’s going to keep pushing and refusing to play and all of that, then I expect they’ll be prepared to accept an offer.

“I hear Liverpool are going to come in with another offer, because they still want to bring him in.

“That offer will likely be upwards of £120million, apparently that’s the minimum Newcastle are asking for.

“They’ve gone to £110million, but haven’t gone any further and everybody knows the situation, but it’s in everybody’s interest to reach an agreement.

“If they do come in with this new offer, I think it’s got a better chance of being accepted.

“From Liverpool’s point of view, I think they’re confident because the player wants the move.

“A higher fee, Newcastle might look at it and say if he’s not going to get on with it and stay there, then they’re better off letting him go.“

While the Reds’ focus remains on getting a deal for Isak over the line, they are also planning to cash in on a number of fringe players to balance the books.

Brown told Football Insider on 13 August that Liverpool are planning to sell Kostas Tsimikas and are ready to accept offers in the window’s closing stages.

Slot made a clear statement about the left-back’s position in his team after he was left out of the squad during the Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider in June that Nottingham Forest are interested in Tsimikas and have been given the green light to make a move.
