And, even though the Reds managed to triumph over Mikel Arteta’s men, there was still plenty of transfer talk that emerged in the game.

For most of the 2025-26 summer transfer window, Marc Guehi has been linked with a Liverpool switch.

The Englishman has one year left on his current deal at Selhurst Park, and with Crystal Palace reluctant to lose him for nothing at the end of the campaign, Steve Parish has been listening to offers for his captain.

The Reds ended up making a £35million bid for the defender, which was instantly rejected and counter-offered.

I know there’s only a year left on his contract, but it does feel a little bit skinny,” he said.

Although talk of Guehi making the move to Liverpool was already rife, now that Ibrahima Konate is injured, his arrival feels like a necessity.

Prior to his injury, Konate didn’t perform to the best of his ability in his previous games, and, even if his injury isn’t all that serious, with all the talk around Joe Gomez’s future, a new centre-back now seems like a necessity.

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen, but since Liverpool have pursued Guehi for a fair few weeks now, it’s hard to see why they’d turn their heads and walk away from a deal this late.
