The first half of the game was all Liverpool; however, when both teams came out for the second half, it looked like Arne Slot’s men were the underdogs.

In each game that comes along now, the Dutchman will have to choose between Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.

On Saturday, Slot made the right choice with the Frenchman managing to bag Liverpool’s winner; however, after the game, Ekitike made his stance on fighting Isak for the starting place in Slot’s team more than clear.

Both Ekitike and Isak deserve to start every game possible; however, since they’re both world-class number nines, plenty of rotation is going to have to take place.

And that’s exactly what happened today as Ekitike was taken off for the Sweden international.

However, once the game had ended, the former Eintracht Frankfurt man was speaking about competing with Isak, and his stance was made more than clear.

“He’s a very, very good player, I always watched him before I came here,” he said to TNT Sports.

“So for me, him being here is really good, you know, I can learn and improve myself.

“It’s just competition, but I know we’re going to play together and make a difference, and I hope one day we’re going to share the pitch.”

Even though Liverpool may have won all but one of their games across all competitions this season, it still feels like more could come from the Anfield outfit.

Everton were the much better team in the second half, and unless Slot can figure out what happens to his first-team squad as their games go on, things could turn rather sour, especially if their luck ends up running out.
