Former Liverpool defender Abel Xavier has tipped his countryman Rúben Amorim to replace Jürgen Klopp at Anfield, having done his coaching badges alongside the Sporting CP boss.
Amorim is currently the favorite for the Liverpool job following Xabi Alonso's decision to extend his stay at Bayer Leverkusen for another season.
It is claimed that Liverpool wants to have its new coaching team identified by May ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The Liverpool ECHO reports that Amorim is now Liverpool's preferred choice to succeed Klopp.
His successful track record in Portugal and his style of play have made him a sought-after candidate among several clubs.
Xavier believes he will leave Sporting this summer and thinks he would be the ideal choice for Liverpool.
He is very humble and has a clear mentality.
"He's destined to leave Sporting and when you have three or four possibilities to join big clubs like this, his name will always be at one of the top clubs, that's for sure.
With great respect to Sporting, I would like to see Rúben Amorim at Liverpool and I think he will be the right person to replace Jürgen Klopp."
Liverpool.com says: Amorim is the leading candidate to take over as Liverpool boss and his stock is very high right now.
