Liverpool may be Premier League champions but that doesn’t mean they are afraid of a shake-up this summer.
The Reds are known for their methodical and tactical approach in the transfer market, something that is also reflective of their playing style under Arne Slot.
As they romped to their 20th league title, not a lot really needs to change, with only minor adjustments needed to ensure they stay at the top of the Premier League.
A few new additions will be made before the new season begins, with the Reds’ business seriously impressive and showing clear intent, even if those around them are also strengthening.
Left-back is an area that they look set to upgrade and they are doing it with one of the most exciting talents in the league, as Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez is closer than ever to joining.
Many already know what the Hungarian will bring to the first-team squad, but he may add a lot more than people realise.

The ‘eye test’ is one way of seeing if a player would fit into a club, but statistics often go hand-in-hand and further support a move for an individual.
Kerkez’s underlying numbers prove just that and highlight just how good an addition to the squad he will be, as well as carrying Andy Robertson’s torch on perfectly.

Data journalist David Segar from Opta is someone who knows better than most what the 21-year-old will bring to Anfield, and it is a move that should excite fans.
“Kerkez, you look at him for Bournemouth and the way they play is very much about transitions, moving the ball forward quickly, and I suspect that’s another part behind it,” Segar said on the Redmen TV 2 YouTube channel.

“With Kerkez it’s his overlaps, underlaps, his pace, directness and his crossing.
I would imagine the volume [of crosses at Liverpool] will go up purely because of his energy and youthfulness.
“When the links came out about Kerkez, I was not surprised at all as his profile is very similar to Robertson.”
As Segar referenced, Kerkez’s profile is so similar to Robertson’s when he first joined Liverpool and, if anything, he is significantly better than the Scotsman was when the Reds signed him in 2017.
Last season was no different either and the Hungarian was one of the standout players in his position in the Premier League, making it no surprise to see Liverpool acting swiftly.

Both are pacy, energetic, love to get forward but equally are solid defensively, showing how their all-round game is perfect.
At 21 too, Kerkez will only get better and the Reds could get a good 10 years out of him, suggesting this investment may go down just as well as Robertson has now he is coming to the end of his spell on Merseyside.
