An Australian broadcaster has said how Diogo Jota was one of the "nicest" people he's ever met.
The football world has been stunned by the news that the 28-year-old Liverpool forward and his 26-year-old brother Andre Silva, were tragically killed in a car accident.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning, in Zamora near Spain’s north-west border with Portugal.
Jake Buckley, a self-styled content creator, has now taken to social media to share his memories of working with Jota, when the forward was playing for Wolves, at a video game tournament several years ago.
Posting on X, Buckley wrote: "I met Diogo Jota in 2019.
Rest in Peace, Diogo Jota and Andre Silva."
The news has naturally rocked the footballing community with several clubs and prominent figures paying their respects in light of the devastating news.
A statement released by Liverpool read: "Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.
We will continue to provide them with our full support."
Pedro Proenc?a, President of the Portuguese Football Federation, said: "The Portuguese Football Federation and all Portuguese football are completely devastated by the deaths of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, this morning, in Spain.
"Much more than an amazing player, with almost 50 internationalizations for the National A Team, Diogo Jota was an extraordinary person, respected by all team-mates and opponents, someone with an infectious joy and a reference in the community itself.

"On my behalf, and on behalf of the Portuguese Football Federation, I express my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Diogo and Andre? Silva, as well as Liverpool FC and FC Penafiel, the clubs where, respectively, lined up the players.
"The Portuguese Football Federation has already asked UEFA for a minute's silence, this Thursday, before the match of our national team with Spain, in the women's European Championship.
"We've lost two champions.
The deaths of Diogo and André Silva represent irreparable losses for Portuguese football and we will do everything we can to honour their legacy on a daily basis."
The tragedy comes just two weeks after Jota married his long-term partner Rute Cardoso in Portugal.
