Vitor Matos was by Jurgen Klopp's side in 2020 when Liverpool won their first top-flight title for 30 years.
By that point, Klopp's Anfield project was well underway, and the Reds had a Champions League trophy to show for their efforts.
But with Matos on board and the team gathering momentum, they went on to win three more domestic cups before Klopp called it a day last summer.
Matos, who had spent five years working as a development coach on Merseyside, took that as his cue to leave with Klopp's former assistant, Pepijn Lijnders, and begin work as his right-hand man at RB Salzburg.

After a five-month stint in Austria which abruptly ended in December, Matos is now looking to go it alone.
A hungry young coach with years of experience working alongside some of the world's top managers, the 37-year-old took a lot from his time on Klopp's backroom staff.
"Every day with Klopp is a masterclass," he told Marca.
"Jurgen, in addition to being very authentic, is a leader with a capital L."
However, it was former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho who first inspired the Portuguese to get straight into coaching, having never played at the top level professionally.
"Mourinho awakened in me the desire to be a coach, as happened to many other Portuguese of my generation," Matos continued.
But with years worth of knowledge in his back pocket, Matos knows exactly what style of football he wants to play.
He explained: "I consider myself a young and very determined coach.
