Ian Wright believes Jamie Carragher was "disrespectful" with his criticism of Casemiro following Manchester United's drubbing at Crystal Palace.

Carragher claimed that Casemiro's time playing at the top level was up and that those around him should urge him to pursue a move elsewhere come the summer with the Brazilian, who he labelled as a "modern great", being made to look sub par.

He said on Sky Sports: "Casemiro should know tonight as an experienced player that he should only have another three games left at the top level – the next two [Premier] league games and the [FA] cup final – then he should be thinking I need to go to the MLS or Saudi.

But I always remember something when I retired myself, and there was a saying I always remember as a footballer: 'Leave the football, before the football leaves you.' The football has left him – at this top level.

He needs to call it a day at this level of football and move."

Casemiro was part of a Real Madrid outfit that claimed five Champions League titles in less than a decade as he formed part of an iconic midfield.

Jamie Carragher has urged the Brazilian to walk away from the top level.
